ABOUT THE OPEN DOOR

The Open Door is an entertainment event held once a month in the function hall at Smith church, downtown Hillsborough (the church with the clock in the steeple). There’s lots of free parking and the doors open by 6:30pm. People bring goodies to share and we provide decaf coffee and decaf tea, ice water, and hot cocoa and, of course, the exciting entertainment. Admission is FREE, although donations are gratefully accepted to help us off-set costs. The Open Door entertainment is local and outstanding, and we always brag that our audience is The Best!! The warm and welcoming atmosphere, our wonderful audience and great performers will keep you coming back month after month.

Talent Line-up for November 2nd's Open Door

We know you enjoyed the October 5th Open Door as much as we did so, of course, you're going to want to be at the November 2nd one.  What a line-up we have in store for you!  We enjoyed Marek's set so much that we invited him back to be the Featured Act in November.

He and Woody Pringle (and possibly a few others!) constitute the group Hardtacks and they will continue the Civil War era folk music and education that Marek brought in October.  Check out the "Rally 'Round the Flag" project here:   http://civilwarfolkmusic.com  And for songs they will be drawing from for their feature set, see: http://civilwarfolkmusic.com/songsheets   This educational program is something groups (schools, libraries, civic organizations, historical societies, etc.) can book through a NH Humanities Council grant and all the pertinent information is on the project's website.  Click on the NH Humanities Council logo on the Civil War Folk Music webpage for grant application info.
