ABOUT THE OPEN DOOR

The Open Door is an entertainment event held once a month in the function hall at Smith church, downtown Hillsborough (the church with the clock in the steeple). There’s lots of free parking and the doors open by 6:30pm. People bring goodies to share and we provide decaf coffee and decaf tea, ice water, and hot cocoa and, of course, the exciting entertainment. Admission is FREE, although donations are gratefully accepted to help us off-set costs. The Open Door entertainment is local and outstanding, and we always brag that our audience is The Best!! The warm and welcoming atmosphere, our wonderful audience and great performers will keep you coming back month after month.

The First Open Door of 2013, Coming January 4th!

As I write this post, I'm waiting for Rick to finish our "snack" which we hope will tide us over 'til the New Year's Eve Party.  It gives me a minute to reflect.  This is the last evening on the last day of this year, and tomorrow (and next year) comes at midnight when we celebrate the entry of 2013.  We've had a marvelous season since September at the Open Door with a continuation of the great music, fun folks, and the cooperation and ownership everyone feels for this event.  After this year of ups and downs in our own lives and our town, country and world, I wish for every one of you the best of everything in the coming year.  Welcome, 2013!

Something I consider part of "the best of everything" is The Open Door, which starts up again this Friday, January 4th, with the first coffee house of the New Year.

Here's the talent line-up for Friday's Open Door:
7pm-7:15pm Laura Troian
7:15-7:30pm Jack Bopp
7:30-7:45pm Bible Hill Boys
7:45-8:15pm Just Desserts
INTERMISSION
8:30pm-9pm Second Time Around
9pm-9:15pm Steve Dionne
9:15-9:30pm Cathy Main

During our hiatus (doesn't it seem like a really long time since the last Open Door?!), Just Desserts has been working on a new-song-set-list.  Well, not new, new songs, just ones we haven't performed before.  We hope you'll recognize all of these and that you will sing along when we play:
Take It Easy (Eagles)
When Will I Be Loved (Linda Ronstadt)
Lay Down Sally (Eric Clapton)
Moondance (Van Morrison)
Bless the Broken Road (Rascal Flatts)
The Game of Love (Carlos Santana & Michelle Branch)
Money-That's What I Want (Barrett Strong)

Okay, it's snacktime, so I'll wrap it up for now (for tonight, this year . . . ).  You all know how this works, so even tho it's been 2 months, go get your goodies together, call all your friends to meet you at Smith church in downtown Hillsborough this Friday, Jan. 4.  The doors open at 6:30pm and the music begins at 7pm.

We have missed you and can't wait to see everyone again!
