ABOUT THE OPEN DOOR

The Open Door is an entertainment event held once a month in the function hall at Smith church, downtown Hillsborough (the church with the clock in the steeple). There’s lots of free parking and the doors open by 6:30pm. People bring goodies to share and we provide decaf coffee and decaf tea, ice water, and hot cocoa and, of course, the exciting entertainment. Admission is FREE, although donations are gratefully accepted to help us off-set costs. The Open Door entertainment is local and outstanding, and we always brag that our audience is The Best!! The warm and welcoming atmosphere, our wonderful audience and great performers will keep you coming back month after month.

Brook House Songwriter's Circle, Saturday November 17th, Franklyn Kelecy

Hi everyone,
Special thanks to Matt Protas for a really great presentation at our October circle. Great job and thanks; I'm working on getting a new song down to its essence.
Great news, Franklyn (Frank) Kelecy has accepted my invitation to be our guest performer this month.
Many of us know Frank and his music. I first met him one night years ago at Jesses' in Lebenon at their open mic. We shared a table and I was immediately taken by his supurb guitar work, and he's a Mechanical Engineer! How could I not like him? Thanks to Juliana Nichole and her songwriters group I met up with Frank again. Most of you have met him either here at Brook House or up at the Upper Valley Songwriters Group. To those who have not, please stop by.
Frank will be talking about his songwriting and how he thinks in terms of a "full band" arrangement (guitar, vocal, bass, drums, keyboard), which offers more possibilities than just guitar and voice alone. He will also talk about his influences, lyric writing, and coming up with melodies and harmonies.
For those who don't know, doors open at 6:30 pm, and our guest starts promptly at 7:00 pm.
We have a short break about 8:00 pm, where we share pot luck snacks.
Admission is free, but we ask you to throw a few into our tip bowl for the Guest Performer. (Frank says he'll perform for beer and cookies) Let's get him some new strings too.
After the break we will start the songwriters circle where we all get a chance to present our newest or favorite originals.
We always play until Steve Dionne gets tired, which takes a lot.
If anyone wants to stop by early, we can play a few beforehand. Early is 4:00 pm, unless you want to help us clean and prep.
Hope to see all of you.
